DermaPen microneedling is a treatment whereby small needles are pushed over your face and other area that need to be targeted to create controlled punctures, which force your skin into repair mode. The microneedle length can vary from 0.25 to 2.5 mm depending on the treatment and area where it is used on. Microneedling treatment involves multiple superficial puncturing wounds which release growth factors that stimulate fibroblasts creating new collagen and elastin. The whole aim of the microneedling treatment is to traumatise skin without collateral damage to the epidermis and healthy tissue creating a wound healing response and renew the skin cells.
The process of microneedling achieves results through increased quantities and access of cell nutrients to the skin- optimising cell function. Tiny open channels created by the micro needles allow up to 80% more product into skin as compared to 7-10% with normal topical application. The collagen results from the natural wounding of the skin, even though the wound is minuscule. Each tiny wound goes through three classic phases of wound healing like any other wound.

Due to the application of the numbing cream, there is no pain or discomfort during the Microneedling procedure.
